We have drawn up three walking routes with interesting information about the sights you will encounter along your route. Walking at Limbricht Castle
Landgoed Kasteel Limbricht is situated on the edge of the Limbrichterbos. This makes our castle an ideal starting point for a lovely walk. We regularly organise themed walks combined with delicious refreshments. Of course, it is also possible to go for a walk independently. We provide a number of walking routes of various distances free of charge. Naturally, you are more than welcome before and after your walk in the Tasting Room and the terrace for a bite and a drink!
Walking route 5.5 kilometres
Would you like to go for a short walk around Limbricht Castle? Then our 5.5-kilometre walking route is just the thing for you. Along this route, you will walk past a number of nice, historical sights, such as the Saint Salvius Church, the Platz and the Maria Chapel. On this page, you can download the route and interesting information. When you have finished the walk, you can enjoy a cup of tea or coffee or another drink of your choice at Limbricht Castle.
9.5 kilometre walk
Would you like to go for a walk through the Limbrichterbos? Then our 9.5-kilometre walking route is just the thing for you. On this walking route, you will walk through part of the Limbrichterbos, after which you will finish back in the courtyard of Limbricht Castle. Furthermore, this walk will lead you past points of interest, such as the large Salvius Church, Grasbroek Castle and the Chapel of Our Lady of Rest. 12.5 km walk
Our 12.5-kilometre walking route takes you past a number of beautiful sights, the well-known village of Born and the Limbrichterbos. Walk through Kasteelpark Born and the ruins of the former castle. Visit the Saint Martin's Church in Born. View the large rock with all the baby names from the year 2000. Walking in Limbricht Castle
On various Sundays throughout the year, we also organise a guided tour of Limbricht Castle yourself. This allows you to get to know the castle and the surrounding estate a little better. For instance, you will be shown the subterranean cellar vault. You will take a walk through the keep, during which you will hear interesting historical facts from your guide. This tour is also interesting for children who want to know more about our imposing castle. The tour starts at eleven o'clock and takes about an hour and a half.
During the tour you will discover the rich history of Limbricht Castle, which dates back to the 11th century. You will hear fascinating stories about the remodelling, the destruction during the Eighty Years' War and the French invasion in the 18th century. The guide will take you through various rooms of the castle, including the chapel and the courtyard.
